The #FridaysForFuture movement, which has been in existence since last autumn, is committed to more climate protection, limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees and adhering to the Paris Climate Agreement. As a result, further climate protection initiatives were launched, such as #ScienceForFuture or #PoliticsForFurture.
Another of these initiatives is #EntrepreneursForFuture. It is based on the commitment of economic players. This is an association of companies that work together for climate protection and sustainability in business. They have elaborated their demands and concerns in a statement that has so far been signed by more than 1,800 companies. Energieloft (Innoloft) is also one of the signatories.
With our #StartupsForFuture initiative, launched at the beginning of May 2019 as part of #EntrepreneursForFuture, we want to support the initiatives and focus on sustainability solutions for start-ups. That’s why every Friday we present startups from the loft system on our social channels that develop innovative green solutions and bring them to market. Paptic – Paptic inspects plastic packaging from
The Finnish startup Paptic Ltd. has developed a solution to avoid plastic waste. They replace plastic packaging with wood fibres from sustainable forestry. The material is certified with the established FSC seal. Their products are fully biodegradable, renewable and recyclable. They thus offer an environmentally friendly, economical solution for retailers, packaging suppliers and brand owners to conserve resources.
Binando – Binando puts smart trash cans on the street
Sensors developed by Stuttgart-based start-up Binando GmbH determine the fill level of refuse containers. Binando integrates these sensors into waste containers. In this way, the fill level can be transmitted in real time to a cloud where the data can be analysed. Waste disposers can draw logistical conclusions from this data and only those waste bins need to be approached that have a high filling level. This saves costs, resources and emissions. The Binando solution is a plug & play system with the advantage that it can be installed and used easily and without great technical effort. Your batteries and the energy management of the hardware are designed for longevity. For this reason, the system can be operated with low maintenance.
Blacksquared GmbH – Changers motivates coworkers spielerisch to more movement and Radfahren
Behind Changers is Blacksquared GmbH. With their playful approach they motivate employees in companies to do something good for themselves and the environment. Instead of a car, they simply walk or cycle. Not only health benefits from this. It also helps to reduce traffic, avoid traffic jams and, of course, the climate. The app records every sustainable kilometre covered and rewards you with bonus points redeemable at a marketplace, tree planting campaigns or donation projects. Companies can use the Changers CO2 fit App as a white label solution for their corporate health management.
envuco UG – envucos software solution makes buildings smart in a sustainable way
The founders of envuco are convinced that smart technology must neither be expensive nor harmful to the environment. For this reason, they have developed a green radio-based complete solution for smart buildings that does not require batteries, cables or maintenance. By equipping their products with harvesting technology and using sustainable materials for sensors and actuators, they not only want to save CO2 emissions in residential and non-residential buildings, but also significantly reduce energy costs and the use of resources. In addition, they combine building automation with smart metering, which represents energy consumption and allows savings to be made. Their complete solution is free of charge for companies, who want to participate in the savings achieved for a period of 5 years.
GREENbimlabs GmbH – GREENbimlabs closes material cycles in buildings
The start-up company GREENbimlabs from Aachen has developed another sustainable building solution. The core of the solution is Aikana – a software platform. It determines material safety, material cycles and recyclability of materials. On the basis of the data, evaluations are made and recommendations for optimisation are given. It can be used to simulate all maintenance and lifecycle costs of construction projects. Construction companies, architects and authorities thus receive support in their sustainable building planning, in which the reusability and recyclability of building materials are considered from the outset.
Carbon Analytics – Carbon Analytics optimizes the CO2 footprint for small and medium-sized enterprises
The startup Carbon Analytics has developed a web platform. It prepares CO2 balances for small and medium-sized companies. The CO2 footprint is based on the purchasing data of the companies. Subsequently, the program gives suggestions for improvement. If the company implements these, the improvements can be visualized via the user interface. These in turn can be used in the form of reports and certificates for presentation purposes.
carbonauten GmbH– carbonauten refine biomass residues to biochar by removing CO2 from the atmosphere
With its carbonauten system, carbonauten GmbH has developed a process from which biocarbons can be produced from biomass residues, for example from the wood, agricultural, forestry and food industries. These can reduce the CO2 content or are produced CO2-neutrally. They can replace petroleum-based products on the market. In addition, they also generate renewable energy, which can be used for heat and electricity supply. Their decentrally produced biocarbons can be further processed into products such as bioactivated carbon, biofeed coal, biogrill coal or auxiliary materials for biogas plants or soils. Carbonauten GmbH is also working on other innovative products, such as bio coke from waste wood or insulation and packaging materials.
